I have a hard time justifying a pay raise for Jagr. I like him on the team but his play did trail off when it mattered most. Not sure how much was the leg injury but they can't tie up cap space on a guy who is likely not going to get better than what we saw from him last year. The young guys need more time as well.

Agreed. Jagr looked like toast at season's end and in the playoffs. Statistically there should be a better match out there, for example Ray Whitney who wont demand 2st line ice time.

if the flyers want weber be prepared to give up jvr,and one of coots, schenn,or simmonds.and draft picks like 2 1st round picks.i saw somewhere that it would take jvr and voracek and picks no chance nashville take 2 unproven forwards and two picks.if i were nashville i would want jvr and simmonds and two 1st.

Honestly I feel better about this team going into next season than I have in a long while. Were we to just resign Carle and our RFA's I think we'd be in a pretty good spot come playoffs next year.

I'm sure there will be more of an effort to improve the club. However I feel like we are improving from a position of Power, rather than having specific glaring needs.

As for the draft I totally believe in drafting on talent over position, but I hope we get a Defensemen or Goalie prospect.

Hmmm...I would probably do either of those. Prefer to send Simmonds than Voracek though. Weber is the missing piece and the only one who comes close to replacing Pronged and he doesn't seem to be coming back any time soon...espscially with his house for sale.

If I was Nashville, I wouldn't want Simmonds as part of the deal. I'd want JVR, and one of Couturier or Schenn, plus picks.

So...is Jvr + Voracek + Schenn or Cooter + a 1st too much?

I don't see Nashville having much interest there. They'd basically be throw ins.

Jagr was worth the signing last season. Even with his new training regiment on getting lighter/faster I still see him breaking down with the obligatory knee or hip ailment alongside groin issues as the season wear/tear bears down. The Flyers have way too much high end young talented forwards with very high potential ceilings (see Schenn, Brayden) for Holmgren to commit to a full season's worth of top minutes duty alongside G as well as with the 1st PP unit - which, I might add he wasn't even able to sustain last season. Use those monies to re-sign Voracek and bundle with other available resources to sign a Wideman or the like. Sorry folks but the Weber fantasy is just that - a pipe dream.

I think Holmgren is more cautious of going after guys before FA because of dealing for guys like Nabokov + Turco and walking away with nothing. I think he's more concerned of the thought of working on deals that don't pan out in the teams favor and that frankly make him + the team look bad. If he can get someone like Weber with a strong likelihood of a deal being reached he'll pull the trigger, but it's going to take the right move.

I firmly believe they'd like to have Jagr back, but at this point they aren't going to do it if it costs the team a bigger piece. A big time Defensemen is the key right now. Without that this team, and Homer, are in trouble. You can't risk the teams future just to bring back a locker room guy. If the locker room guy is available after that need is addressed, I'm sure they'll make an offer and try to fit him in.

This is off topic, but how did the Flyers land Sean Couturier at #8 overall last summer when they won their division? That guy is $ & he's about 20 years old.

The Flyers traded Jeff Carter to Columbus for Voracek and the #8 pick. Couturier slipped down on some draft lists because he had a bout with mono his previous season. He basically fell in to the Flyers laps.

Yes he is, a very mature beyond his years defensively. I can not wait to see this offensive game he is supposed to have. Though we did see spurts as he scored goals in I believe 5 straight games at one point in the season.

He has a wicked wrist shot, and it is very accurate.

We see him as our very own Jordan Staal with a little more offensive upside.

What is disappointing here is that Jagr said back in January that he felt Philly was his best option, he had never been happier in his life, and that money wasn't important.

In May, on breakup day, he was unhappy with his playing time and his role at season's end. Now, I feel we're back to money.

Jagr and his agent are sending mixed signals? Color me stunned. Welcome to the club folks.

Well unfortunately, in my opinion, Jagr has earned the right to choose whatever situation he wants to be in.

Absolutely he does. the duplicitous nature in which he does so, and the way he'll say one thing and then completely contradiction himself a week later is what you all will shortly find very aggravating.

What your overlooking is the source of where all these reported statements from Jagr come from. Unless I hear it from Jagr's mouth, it's just rhetoric.
